Clinical case – Unexplained visual loss in glaucoma

Patiënt:

A 70-year-old woman with a diagnosis of glaucoma reports a sudden visual decline despite controlled intraocular pressure. The medical history reveals the presence of a distant relative affected by LHON.

Discussion:
How important is family history in hereditary optic nerve diseases? What therapeutic strategy should be adopted in the coexistence of LHON and glaucoma?
